Kia Sportage Breaks Records in Australia as Hybrid Sales Rise

Kia Sportage recently experienced its biggest month ever in Australia, selling 2114 units in March 2024. This represents a startling 148.4% gain from March 2023, with a 53.2% increase thus far this year. The Sportage, which is by far Kia’s best-selling vehicle, came in at number eleven in the VFACTS sales rankings.

The head of product planning at Kia Australia, Roland Rivero, acknowledged the new kia sportage hybrid, which saw 349 registrations, for part of this exceptional achievement. Mr. Rivero stated that negotiations with the manufacture are still going on in order to meet the demand for the Sportage Hybrid when questioned regarding supplies. He made a suggestion that the monthly allotment might go over the 300 units that he had originally given.

With the Sportage Hybrid, Kia Australia seems to have more freedom than with vehicles like the Sorento Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and the impending Carnival Hybrid, which are all subject to supply limits. This is so that, unlike with the Sorento, the Korean manufacturer that supplies Australia’s cars is not required to supply hybrid and plug-in hybrid models to Europe and North America. Rather, Kia Europe’s Slovakian factory supplies Sportages to Europe and the UK.

The new range’s price and specs have not yet been confirmed by Kia Australia, but the Sportage made up about 30% of the brand’s total sales in March—nearly twice as much as the Cerato, which was the second-best-selling vehicle that month. OpenHeadlines anticipates that Kia Australia will shortly announce the new range’s features and price.
