Former DG ISI Faiz Hameed Taken Into Army Custody, Court Martial Initiated: ISPR

Former DG ISI Faiz Hameed taken into military custody ahead of court martial. This action originates from claims that he was involved in the Top City private housing scheme and other violations of the Pakistan Army Act.

According to the Pakistan Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Supreme Court ordered an inquiry into the top city case, which led to the initiation of disciplinary action under the Pakistan Army Act against Lt. Gen. (Retd) Faiz Hameed.

The ISPR stated that after his retirement, several violations of the Pakistan Army Act were proven against Faiz Hameed. As a result, he was taken into custody, and the Field General Court Martial process has begun.

For context, on November 8, 2023, the Supreme Court heard a petition against General (Retd) Faiz Hameed that was submitted by the owners of a private housing association. The court recommended that complaints concerning the former Chief of the ISI and his close companions be directed either the Ministry of Defense or other appropriate channels.

In a written decision on November 15, 2023, the Supreme Court emphasized that the serious allegations against the former ISI Chief should not be ignored, as they could damage the reputation of national institutions if proven true.

The owner of Top City Housing Scheme, Muizz Ahmed Khan, filed a petition, which was considered by a bench of the Supreme Court that included Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Aminuddin, and Justice Athar Minallah. According to the plea, Muizz Khan and his family were the victims of crimes committed by General (Retd) Faiz Hameed as a result of his misuse of power.
