Electric bikes will be distributed to government employees

Electric bikes, often referred to as e-bikes, are bicycles equipped with an integrated electric motor that assists the rider’s pedalling.

In an interview with a regional news program, Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Minister of Transport and Livestock, claimed that the government is completely prepared to launch electric bikes to reduce the intensity of pollution.

He stated that the e-bikes would be cost-effective, and plans are being developed to lease electric bikes to government personnel. Minister Murad stated that the government’s goal is to limit the usage of costly fuels while also protecting the environment in cities.

To attain these objectives, it was decided to launch programs involving electric bikes and secure city cameras that will monitor automobiles spewing smoke. These cameras will recognize and immediately alert field teams.

He stated that there is a necessity for an electric car strategy to be implemented in order to boost local production of environmentally friendly vehicles by giving incentives and encouragement.

The ultimate goal of this policy is to gain a sizable market share. He explained that because electric bikes have zero emissions, lithium-ion batteries will be used, providing a cost-effective and environmentally benign alternative to traditional transportation.

The minister highlighted that during smog seasons, the media could play a role in energy conservation and awareness by airing campaigns on private TV channels and radio advocating the use of face masks. In answer to a question, the administration has taken stringent steps, issuing heavy fines for traffic violations.

He mentioned that the Punjab government is taking efforts in line with the Prime Minister’s environmentally friendly plans, adding that Punjab will be the first state in the country to offer such substantial incentives to electric vehicle owners.
