Deadly Attack in Balochistan

At least 23 persons were killed on Monday morning in Balochistan’s Musakhel district by armed men. According to a government official, the attackers stopped trucks and buses, forced passengers to get off, checked their identities, and shot them.

Najeeb Kakar, Musakhel Assistant Commissioner, stated that the armed men blocked the roadway in the Rarasham region, halting many buses. He stated that the attackers, numbering between 30 and 40, halted 22 automobiles one at a time.

The attackers targeted vehicles traveling on the highway connecting Punjab and Balochistan. They identified the passengers from Punjab and shot them.

This was the second such attack this year. In April, nine passengers were taken off a bus near Noshki city in Balochistan and shot dead after their ID cards were checked.

Similar attacks have occurred in the past. In October last year, unknown gunmen killed six laborers from Punjab in Turbat, Balochistan. The police reported that these killings were targeted, and the victims were selected based on their ethnic background.

The same thing occurred in 2015, when gunmen stormed a labour camp outside Turbat at early, killing 20 construction workers and injuring three more. The casualties came from Sindh and Punjab.
