Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi Extends Winter Break for Schools Due to Chilly Conditions

Mohsin Naqvi, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, has announced that schools in the area will have an extra week of winter holiday. The decision was made in reaction to the current cold weather and Met Office projections that indicate Punjab would likely have more cold, dry weather with a chance of fog.

According to Chief Minister Naqvi, Nursery, Prep, and KG pupils as well as those in Class One and lower are the main targets of the extension. These young students’ classes will not resume for a week. The action is intended to protect children’s health because the area has seen the tragic loss of many young lives to pneumonia.

Mohsin Naqvi expressed concern over the pneumonia outbreak and stated that the administration has chosen to reschedule all of the upcoming exams for the month. The government made this decision in response to the recent deaths of many youngsters from pneumonia, which prompted them to take preventative action right away.

The Punjab administration had already changed the start time of the schools, with sessions commencing at 9:30 am from January 10 to January 22, in an attempt to control the situation. But in light of the growing health crisis, the administration has decided to further extend winter vacation for particular age groups.

Chief Minister Naqvi highlighted the seriousness of the situation by releasing startling data showing eight out of ten children are presently suffering from pneumonia. The depth of the problem was revealed during an emergency conference at the Children’s Hospital in Lahore, where it was discovered that many of the deceased children were newborns under six months old.

Mohsin Naqvi had earlier in the week stated that there would be no more extensions of the winter break for Punjabi schools and institutions. This decision deviates from his earlier declaration. The government has been forced to reevaluate and give priority to the health and well-being of the younger population due to the changing circumstances, especially the increasing number of pediatric pneumonia cases.
