Bangladesh protestors go on to demand that Hasina step down.

In addition to the nation’s capital Dhaka, there has been violence reported by police and medical professionals in Bogura, Pabna, Rangpur, Magura, Comilla, Barisal, and Feni.

Students who were against the government’s job quota scheme started the protests. Now, this movement has expanded into a larger anti-government rally, with demonstrators calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Prime Minister Hasina has called the protesters criminals and asked people to take strong action against them.

The government has responded by imposing a shoot-on-sight curfew and suspending internet access. At least eleven thousand people have been arrested in the last few weeks.

Bangladesh protestors (Students) demands to abolish a quota system that allocated thirty percent of government positions to the relatives of veterans who participated in Bangladesh’s 1971 war of independence against Pakistan.

The Supreme Court lowered the limit to 5% as the violence worsened, with 3% set aside for veterans’ families.

Still, protestors have not stopped, asking that those responsible for the violence they believe to be the result of overuse of force by the government be held accountable.
